"Hiro, my face hurts," Ando complains from the back. He immediately goes back to making the silly face that Matt Parkman Jr. seems to like before he can start wailing again. Hiro can't blame him. If it wasn't for the fact that he's driving, he'd spell Ando.
Actually, he already tried to spell Ando and it didn't work. For whatever reason, he can't make the face in the same way Ando can so the baby just cries. Of course, maybe he's hungry now. Maybe they can stop and take a breather. Hiro's starving and he's sure that Ando is feeling the same way.
He looks at the signs they're blowing past on I-95. "We could stop. Give him a bottle so that he won't cry so much."
"Good idea. I'm hungry," Ando says shortly, getting back into position as soon as he's finished.
They pull into a McDonald's in Fredericksburg. "I'll sit out here with the baby at the tables while you get lunch. You know what I want."
Fortunately, baby Matt is as hungry as Hiro. He sucks on the bottle with a ferocity that tells Hiro that it was way past his lunchtime. Hiro sits outside patiently, knowing that Ando is probably in there flirting with some girl. Usually it makes him impatient, but after several hundred miles of making crazy faces at a cranky baby, Hiro can't begrudge him a chance to feel like a normal human being. When he finally emerges from the McDonalds to the little tables outside, he looks a lot more relaxed. It helps that baby Matt is dozing against Hiro's shoulder. The little smile on his face tells Hiro that he at least had some time to chat a girl up.
"Was she cute?" Hiro smirks as he one-handedly opens up his Quarter Pounder and dumps his fries in the lid.
Ando nods, the little smile getting a bit bigger. "At least, he's finally taking a break."
"Well, maybe if I drive fast enough, we can get to Washington before he realizes it."
"That would be wonderful," Ando groans as he takes a bite of his Big Mac. "How many miles?"
"About 80."
"Do me a favor, Hiro. Break the speed limit, please?"
It sort of pains Hiro to break the law, but perhaps in this case it can be justified a little. "Okay, I'll go 70."
